About the role

In this role, you will have the opportunity to build an opening team and design a menu which gives Busselton locals and visitors a taste of top-tier WA hospitality. The Head Chef is a key leadership position which will set the standard for high quality food, service and kitchen management. It’s a versatile position, with high-level responsibilities across kitchen systems, processes, people, suppliers, compliance and service.

This role will commence full-time employment from late September / early October 2023 with an initial focus on building and training the opening kitchen team. This role will work closely with Chef Pratt, John Parker and be supported by the centralised operations team (consisting of HR, marketing and finance). The long-term vision for this role is to build a high-functioning team who can consistently produce an excellent customer experience through food.

What you will be doing as Head Chef

  • Creative menu development and execution in collaboration with the Culinary Director.
  • Costing menus, reporting to senior leaders and driving kitchen systems and processes to meet KPIs.
  • Monitoring food stocks, overseeing ordering, and managing supplier relationships.
  • Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented according to the established standards and the team in training to deliver consistently.
  • Foster a high-performing and all-inclusive and positive workspace.
  • Collaborate with our other chefs in Parker Group venues to align your kitchen with the group's overarching goals.
  • Manage timesheets, rostering, personnel issues and have regular performance reviews with your team.
  • Collaborate with FOH to deliver exceptional events and functions.
  • Work to educate all staff through food education and safety programs.

Busselton Pavilion is a relaxed and approachable hospitality venue, located in the newly refurbished Busselton Central, which will be opening its doors this summer. The venue will be operating 7 days a week from 11am until late and has the capability to hold up to 550 patrons at a time. The venue is comprised of a wine store & providore, main bar, serviced restaurant, beer garden, along with private dining and mezzanine function space.

Acclaimed chef Brendan Pratt (Vasse Felix, 2021 WAGFG Regional Chef of the Year) is the Culinary Director and has drafted a forward-thinking menu which celebrates rotisserie style food and comforting sides. Local and seasonal food will be front of mind along with a state-of-the-art kitchen fit out.

This role is all about orchestrating seamless coordination between the kitchen, front of house, and the South West Wine Shop at Busselton Pavilion. You'll manage systems, processes, policies, and staff. You'll also shape the FOH team, service style, and function offerings.

With high autonomy, you'll work with like-minded leaders at Busselton Pavilion, supported by other venue managers and the Parker Group's operations team. You'll be on the floor, running shifts, and ensuring top-notch customer service. Office days are part of your weekly routine.

Human Resources Coordinator

About the Role

In the past 12 months, Parker Group have set up a centralised head office team, which supports the venues with Marketing, Administration, Finance, Reservations and Human Resources.

This role is an opportunity to join the small HR team and assist the venues with a range of HR activities such as recruitment, onboarding, systems management, employee record keeping, issuing HR documents, and supporting with more complex HR matters.

The HR Coordinator reports to the Senior HR Adviser (also part-time) and will gain exposure to a range of HR areas. The role is perfect for someone who is organised, likes to be busy, and can take initiative.

This role is 0.6 FTE and is located in the head office near Wolf Lane, Perth City. Option to complete the hours in 3 full days or shorter hours across 5 days.

What you will do as our HR Coordinator

  • Help to manage a HR inbox with general internal enquiries.
  • Assist in the management of the recruitment for the venues (for roles such as chefs and bar supervisors) which involves drafting job adverts, reviewing candidates and attending interviews if required.
  • Deliver engaging and informative onboarding experiences for permanent staff.
  • Conduct exit interviews and offboard permanent staff.
  • Oversee the HR and rostering platform TANDA, ensuring that employee details are always up to date.
  • Assist with ad-hoc performance management processes by providing advice and guidance to line managers.
  • Facilitate sponsorships as they occur (training provided).
  • Effectively dealing with day-to-day staff issues that may arise, including assisting with disciplinary matters and grievances where necessary (with support from the Senior HR Adviser).

What you possess: 

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a HR Generalist/Advisor role.
  • Tertiary level qualification in Human Resources.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work effectively with staff from all levels of the organisation with maturity and diplomacy.
  • Broad knowledge of HR practices.
  • Strong administrative and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of the National Employment System and Modern Awards.
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
  • Exposure to the hospitality industry (desirable but not essential).
  • Tech savvy - able to learn new systems quickly.
